How long does a typical session last?
For small families, sessions take about one hour. Larger families often go closer to two hours. Newborns or small babies can take even longer, since they often need nursing or diper changes, soothing, etc.

How should we dress?
It’s typically best to avoid bright/bold patterns and designs. This will pull attention away from the faces and expressions you want to capture! The exception would be if this is the persons typical personality/style, and how they want to be remembered. Feel free to look around at various portraits (on this site and others) and see what looks appeal to you.
For families or groups, it’s highly recommended to wear similar or coordinating colors. Everyone wearing light colors or everyone wearing darker colors is best. Colors that compliment each other (like browns and blues, blues and greens, etc) work really well for groups.
A popular, fun and casual look is white t-shirts and jeans.
Logo’s or current fashions are not recommended as they often do not live up to the test of time, and take away from the timelessness of the images.
We suggest barefoot for children, unless they are more formally dressed.

What do I need to bring?
Anything you would like incorporated into your images! Personal items will help to tell a story when you look back at these images in the years to come. Childhood snugglies, instruments, uniforms, or hobbies. Be creative! What makes your family unique?

How long does it take to get our proofs?
Sneak peeks will be posted on the facebook fan page within a few days. Your previews will be posted within two weeks, although they are usually available within 2-7 days of your session. Your online album will be e-mailed to the e-mail address you provided.
Please note that these are just previews, your final images may be cropped differently (to fit the sizes ordered) and will have touchups made (such as fine tuning the color quality, removing blemishes or backdrop wrinkles, etc).

How long does it take to receive my photos after I place my order?
Typically 2-3 weeks. This allows time for final editing and for shipment of your images from the lab.

Why does professional photographers cost so much?
When you hire a professional photographer you are paying for many more services then you would get elsewhere… ask yourself these questions:
Would you rather have someone who has studied and practiced for years to have the skills and artistic vision to create your memories, or the teenager at Wal-Mart?
How many places like sears or JC Penny’s take more then 20 minuets to get your children at ease and capture the priceless expressions?
Are these places going to come to your house or favorite park?
Places like Wal-Mart, sears, and JC Penny charge so little because they are providing less and they just want to get you in the door. They do not need to make a profit on prints because they plan on you buying other things while you are there!

Professional Photographers are also (usually) their own web designer, customer service rep (answering calls and e-mails), photo editor/graphics artist, advertiser, etc. Many things go into running the photography business, taking photos (studying, equipment) and prepping images (software, time) that are often not seen or considored.
This site says it better then I can!

Why do you charge less then some other studios? Your work rocks!
Because there isn’t a studio location we are able to save a ton on overhead costs. These savings we are able to pass onto you! The majority of our clients are military, and we know how far those dollars have to stretch.

How did you get into professional photography?
When my oldest son Anthony was born I took him to a few studio’s. Each time I left disappointed after having been hurried through a handful of shots from a teen who obviously didn’t know much about photography. I had always loved photography and decided that it was what I wanted to do. To learn how to take beautiful portraits and give people the experience they deserve. I learned what I know without any formal classes (outside of a weekend with RMSP.com). I have spent the last five years learning from some awsome photographers online, getting feedback, looking at examples, and lots of practice. I'm always happy to help others out who want to learn more about photography. If you have a question, just ask!
